Accoya hardwood painted front door with raised and fielded panels and obscured glass

These photos show the before and after installation of an accoya timber painted front door that we recently fitted to a property on Hayling Island, Hampshire. We still have a little work to do on the brickwork, but I am sure you will agree it is a big improvement to the upvc door that was there before.

The door was made using traditional through mortise and tenon construction from Accoya. The raised and fielded panels are made from two layers of Tricoya MDF This is a fantastic product that is very stable and long lasting when used externally. There is very little movement so you don’t get the usual hairline cracks that can occur in solid panels even when using hardwood.

The accoya door and frame is finished in a Sikkens micro-porous three coat system in Normandy Gray. We can supply all our joinery to any colour you would like, along with a range of clear coats and stains.

To set the door off and give it that feeling of quality, we have the double glazing manufacturer produce obscured panes but with a clear 10mm wide border, this complements the solid panels below. By doing this is gives the effect of creating a traditional look, maintaining privacy and allowing lots of natural light into the hallway.

All our timber doors are manufactured in our own workshop so we can supply stable doors, or any other style that you may require so it is always worth asking. While we strongly recommend purchasing wooden doors in Accoya and allowing us to fully finish them, we will also supply them in engineered redwood if your budget is restricted, this is not going to be as stable as Accoya but it is still a very stable product and will give a good quality product.

The door is fitted with a key activated multi-pointing Heritage Door Lock which is Police Secured by Design approved, tested to PAS 23: 1999 and PAS 24:2007, and is accredited to VdS and SKG. It come with a 10 year guarantee.

All our timber wood doors come supplied with an aluminum low level threshold giving a hard wearing water proof seal; these are available in black, silver, or gold.
